Barguse is a registered Pony Club Centre and we offer a wide and varied list of activities in association with the Pony Club.
The aim of The Pony Club is to encourage young people to ride and enjoy all kinds of sport connected to horses and riding. It teaches young people the importance of proper care of their animals and aims to promote the highest ideals of sportsmanship, citizenship and loyalty. The Pony Club Centre membership is open to anyone under 21 years of age who either does not own a pony or cannot attend branch rallies due to lack of horse transport or other reason.
In order to become a Pony Club Centre member at Barguse, your child needs to be riding independently at the walk and trot and close to cantering independently in order to get the maximum out of the rallies on a Friday night. In addition, you will need to join them to the Pony Club which costs a nominal amount per year and is payable to the Pony Club direct. Joining can be done directly via the Pony Club website. (Please make sure you download the Centre membership form and not branch)
Membership will enable your child to take part in achievement badge work, (there are over 40 badges) and also pony club efficiency tests up to AH standard (including the riding and road safety test), progressive tests in riding and horsemanship and the opportunity to compete in rallies and competitions throughout the year. Membership also includes third party insurance.
Throughout the year we run various badge evenings and mornings in addition to the Friday evening rallies. This is where your children can work towards each individual badge at their own pace and receive structured help on the various topics covered within the Pony Club which involves far more than just horses!
Rallies and competitions will be run throughout the holidays as well as our annual residential Pony Club camp during the summer holidays which is always hugely popular! You also have the option to purchase Barguse Pony Club sweatshirts so that all the badges can be sewn on.
So, if you think that your child would like the opportunity to meet new friends, improve their riding skills and have fun, please do ask in the office.
